Ever wondered why New York is often called “the city that never sleeps?”

When you witness a jam-packed boot camp at 6 a.m. in Central Park, the answer to that question becomes obvious.

When the sun rose on the morning of August 31, so did around 30 women, all of whom signed up for Method Fitness’ morning boot camp session for ladies.

One by one, they arrived at their meeting place on ritzy and bustling Central Park South. From there, the adventure began; after a warm-up hike through Mother Nature, the troop arrived at their “camp site,” where the adrenaline really started to pump.

For a full hour, the boot campers endured an ultra-challenging work out, with their Method Fitness certified trainer pushing and motivating the team through each routine. At last, at 7 a.m., when alarm clocks throughout the city were just beginning to ring, the Method Fitness boot camp troop had accomplished their mission, and completed their work out for the day. The reward? Results!

Runners who are planning to compete in their first marathon often become members of private personal training gyms because they want the guidance and expertise of the best personal trainers.

Training for a marathon like this one takes patience, work and the right strategy. Read on to learn the most successful approach to your marathon training program.

Runners who are planning to compete in their first marathon often become members of private personal training gyms because they want the guidance and expertise of the best personal trainers.

This is a very good idea since many runners make a lot of mistakes when training for their first marathon. Some mistakes actually cost them the marathon because they injure themselves and are unable to train properly.

Assess Your Condition

Before you even sign up for a marathon, assess your physical condition, running abilities and overall desire and ability to complete 26.2 miles safely. This is where personal trainers come in handy because they can help you decide whether you should make the commitment or whether a half marathon might be a good goal to tackle first.

You also have to make sure you are mentally prepared for a marathon. Many personal trainers have already completed marathons and can give you great insight into preparing for the mental challenge. Running a marathon is as much in the head as it is in the legs!

Give it Time

Once you are sure that training for a marathon is the right goal for you, select a race that will give you plenty of time to properly train. You shouldn’t feel incredibly rushed or pressured to get prepared in a short period of time as that will lead to bad decisions that lead to injuries.

Don’t Push It

You have to reasonably assess where you are as a runner and with physical conditioning right now, and then, gradually take it up a notch. You shouldn’t go out tomorrow for a 15 mile run if you can only comfortably run 6 miles. Assess your starting point and don’t push too fast or too hard too soon.

Personal trainers are excellent resources for gradual programs that prevent injury while allowing you to progress toward your goals.

Get in Form

It is very important not to skip the warm up or cool down phases of a run. You should also check with your personal trainers if you aren’t certain you are using the most effective running form. The small details become extremely important when you are pushing your body to run that first marathon.

The right personal trainers will be able to make small tweaks or even big improvements to your form which can make you a more efficient runner. This makes training easier and will improve performance on the big day.

Have a Plan

Finally, you can’t train for your first marathon according to whatever you feel like doing from day to day. When you decide to push yourself to train for a marathon, you need a proven plan to get you from wherever you are now to where you need to be on race day.

You can find some programs online for free, but the best marathon training programs are those that are designed for you personally. Personal trainers can assess your starting point and help you come up with a complete training program that caters to your individual needs.

When you have a smart training plan and resist temptation to run ahead of schedule and push yourself too hard, you will actually enjoy marathon training. Many people actually find it addicting, so don’t be shocked if you find yourself visiting your personal trainers for your second, third and even fourth marathon in the future!

Method Fitness: The best "new" stretches and how to use them, even when you skip the gym.

Many people who sign up for fitness boot camps for women in NYC are shocked with the types of exercises that they encounter in the first few sessions. This is because most people think of very basic military-style exercises and stretches when they think about weight loss boot camps.

Push-ups and jumping jacks are the typical exercises that people think of doing when they sign up for fitness boot camps for women, but what they are actually hit with is usually something very different. Yes, those exercises are thrown into some weight loss boot camps, but the core workout presented in our boot camps is anything but traditional or old school.

Reinventing the Wheel

Personal trainers love exercises like jumping jacks and push-ups today just as much as they did in the past because they are highly effective. The difference in today’s fitness boot camps for women is that trainers are taking those old school exercises and putting a modern twist on them. They are making them even more effective by incorporating different groups of muscles throughout the body.

For instance, consider the squat. We all know what squats are and if you have ever attended weight loss boot camps you know that they are extremely effective at shaping your thighs and toning your rear end. They also happen to be the base movement or stance for a wide variety of newer exercises commonly used in weight loss boot camps.

For instance, kickboxing segments of a boot camp will have you bending down in a squat while punching in different directions. You may also perform different types of squats with different leg positions and even incorporating weights or workout bands.

Combined Movements

Another newer form of exercise that is often used in fitness boot camps for women involves combining two or three separate movements into one. For instance, a personal trainer may have you squat down then come up into a dumbbell press over the head, sinking right back down into the squat. Or, you could find yourself squatting down and then leaping straight up in the air, coming straight back down into a squat.

Combined movements are especially effective when you add lower body movements with strength training movements for the upper body. Just lifting weights for the upper body doesn’t keep your heart rate very high, but if you are lunging, squatting, crunching, and doing other movements along with the arm exercises you can get more cardio and fat burning benefit while strengthening and toning.

Trainer Innovations

The great thing about weight loss boot camps is they are usually led by some of the most talented, experienced personal trainers. These trainers come up with their own innovative moves and combinations of moves that aren’t found anywhere else. Sometimes they have a moment of inspiration and come up with a new challenge on the spot. Other times they have been planning the torture days or weeks in advance.

The only thing that is for certain with fitness boot camps for women is that you will not be doing the old school movements that you expect. You may start out with some jumping jacks but you can guarantee there will be something more challenging, more modern, incorporated at some point.

This surprise is what adds challenge and difficulty to the workout and that is what makes weight loss boot camps so successful and life-transforming!

Think about what you can typically get done in half an hour. That isn’t enough time to have a nice lunch with a good friend. When you really think about your day at work you will find that in a half hour you can’t get much done there either.

Yet, a half an hour is more than enough time to get in some intense cardio that ignites your metabolism and sets you up for rapid weight loss. If you can get into a private personal training gyms in NYC you will have access to the best advice to build upon that half an hour of daily cardio, but if not just use this as a great starting point.

The Short Term

The most difficult part of making healthy lifestyle changes is getting yourself started. This is where personal trainers are invaluable because they know how to pump you up and get you excited. They can also break it down and make it simple so you see results fast without getting overwhelmed.

If you don’t have access to a personal trainer in NYC or don’t have a private personal training gyms in your local NYC area, set one small goal for yourself and stick to it for at least two weeks. Getting in a half an hour of cardio is often recommended by personal trainers because it is very reasonable for anyone to achieve and leaves a lot of options as far as what type of cardio you decide to do.

Make a commitment to some form of cardio for the next two weeks. Even just walking down your street for fifteen minutes and then back will work, or you can even march or jog in place while watching television. If you have a treadmill or exercise bike at home that is even better!

The Long Term

Adding a half hour of cardio into your day every single day will give you more energy and set you toward your weight loss goals. Yet, there will come a point when you hit a plateau or otherwise want to see better results. That is when you must seek the advice of a local personal trainer in NYC. They are the professionals when it comes to assessing your needs and developing workout and nutrition plans that will take you to your goals.

Private personal training gyms in NYC employ the best personal trainers and will give you access to the best equipment from free weight to cardio equipment. You can even find yourself in some exciting group exercise classes such as out door boot camps in NYC!

Seek the advice of your local personal trainers in NYC and see what they recommend for you. It could be as simple as half an hour a day.

There are plenty of reasons to exercise. Personal Trainers give us exercise motivation, and explain why confidence should NEVER be determined by a number on the scale.

Looking for some inspiration to call up your local personal trainers in NYC? Are you searching for something to get you off the couch and out the door for a bit of exercise today? Are you struggling to make yourself workout after an intense day at work? Most people find that getting started with exercise is the most difficult part of the process.

Once you get going you can usually motivate yourself to get going, but getting started has to come first. To give yourself a bit of inspiration to call up a personal trainer in NYC or get into your local private personal training gym in NYC today, consider the following three facts:

Muscle Burns Fat

The more muscle you have in your body the less fat you will have. Most people look in the mirror and see their fatty areas and wish they could get rid of them. This is a tough way to look at the problem since you know losing that fat is going to take some time. You don’t want it to take time, so you put it off to tomorrow. Sound familiar?

When you think about how much fat you have to lose it can be very intimidating. That’s why personal trainers often suggest you think about it in a positive way. One positive thing is to focus on building muscle throughout your body, rather than burning fat. Fat burn will come as a natural result of building muscle.

Are you unsure how to build muscle? Personal trainers have a wealth of information and can help you pump up fast. Remember, pump up here means the same thing as slim down. If you have a private personal training gym in your NYC local area, that is the fastest way to find the best personal trainers in your area.

Muscle Trims the Body

Take two women who weigh 180 pounds and stand them next to one another. They may weigh the same, but chances are one will look larger than the other in at least one area of the body. This is why two people can weigh the exact same but wear two different pant sizes. It doesn’t seem to make sense until you learn what personal trainers already know: it’s not what you weigh on the scale, but how much muscle and fat you have in your body.

If you build muscle in your body you will look smaller! You may not drop tons of weight on the scale, but you will definitely look smaller in your bathing suit and wear a smaller size in blue jeans. Are you ready to pump iron now?

Psst…a quick note for women: building muscle doesn’t mean you will look bulky like a man. You will just have less jiggle and more firm.

Exercise Lifts Your Mood

This is the best reason to call up those personal trainers in NYC and get your body moving today: exercise releases natural endorphins that lift your mood! This is why women who are premenstrual can workout and magically feel better. It’s even better than popping a Midol!

In summary, you should call up your local private personal training gyms in NYC and start working out today because it will:

1. Keep you smiling through your work outs. The key to achieving your fitness goals AND maintaining your svelte physique is to stay positive and focused. Personal trainers are there to help you make improvements both physically and mentally, which leads to success.

2. Pump up your metabolism so you lose fat at a faster rate. More muscle makes you look smaller and tighter, regardless of your weight. Personal trainers know how to trim you down the right way, without starvation or improper exercise tactics.

3. Boost your mood so you feel and look better. Exercise can ease aches and pains.

The top five personal trainer-recommended summer super foods that you should be eating up while they are in season

Get in shape for summer in the city.. with Method Fitness!

Personal trainers do much more than just deliver intense, effective workouts to lift your butt and shape your thighs. They also recommend foods that will help intensify the results from those workouts. The best trainers at the world’s finest private personal training gyms in NYC often recommend foods that are readily available in the market during the summer because they are nutritious and delicious.

Following are the top five personal trainer-recommended summer super foods that you should be eating up while they are in season:

#1: Watermelon

Watermelon is so packed with watery goodness that it should be consumed year round even if you have to pay big bucks to find it where you live in the middle of winter. Not only is it a watery fruit that will keep your body well hydrated, it is packed some of the most powerful antioxidants.

Antioxidants have been proven to clear the body of disease-causing free radicals and are critical when it comes to fighting off signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines.

Plus, watermelon is extremely low calorie and naturally fat free. No wonder it is recommended by all the top private personal in NYC

#2: Berries

Berries of every variety are probably your personal trainer’s best friends! Toss some fresh blueberries on your oatmeal in the morning or slice up some strawberries for a cool evening treat on the front porch.

Berries that are dark in color, such as blueberries, are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that will energize your body prior to a workout or help it rejuvenate afterwards. You can throw berries on practically anything (even veggie salads) to get a quick energy lift. Over time they will protect your body from disease and sickness and help you fight off the signs of aging as well.

#3: Kiwi Fruit

Kiwi has a very unusual taste and makes a delicious, energizing snack that can be taken with you absolutely anywhere. It is jam packed with vitamin C which will help your body fight off infection and illness. It also contains a lot of those powerful antioxidants which will keep your body free from disease-causing free radicals.

Trainers at the best private personal training gyms in NYC embrace kiwi fruit year round for it’s nutritious, energizing properties.

#4: Tomatoes

Did you plant your own veggie garden this year? If not, head on out to the farmer’s market and stock up on tomatoes because they are one of the most healthful foods to be consumed year round, but especially in summer when they are in season. Pick them off the vine and eat them like apples…yes, they are that good for you!

Besides a wide variety of vitamins that your body constantly needs, you get something called lycopene from tomatoes. Lycopene is such a powerful substance it is being touted as a way to prevent cancer and a variety of other very serious diseases.

#5: 100% wheat free corn tortillas

Personal trainers recommend whole grains year round, but high fiber whole grain wheat free corn tortillas are perfect for summer because you can create delicious wraps filled with fresh veggies for quick lunches, snacks and dinners. They will give you long term energy to get through your sessions at our private personal training gym in NYC!

How to identify signs that you are sabotaging your own fitness plan and ways to avoid these "sabotage sins" whether its gearing up for your fitness boot camp sessions or private personal training sessions.

Every day people come into our fitness boot camps for women full of excitement to start losing weight, getting healthier, and seeing real changes in the shape of their bodies. They are all pumped and have serious fitness plans all set. They are ready for action! So, why is it that after a few sessions many of these women start to drop off, never to be seen again? Why is it that we get a surge of participants for our weight loss boot camps around the turn of a new year when New Year’s resolutions are hot, but half of those new-recruits or less remain come March or April?

It’s because people have an uncanny knack of sabotaging their own fitness plans. Sometimes the sabotage starts from the moment they set the plans in motion. As they walk into our fitness boot camps for women full of hope and motivation, they are unknowingly working against themselves. Let’s consider exactly how they sabotage themselves so you can avoid their mistakes at all costs.

#1 Sabotage Sin: Their goals are unrealistic.

If you set goals that you cannot possibly reach you are setting yourself up for failure before you even take action to give it a try. All too often we get new members in our fitness boot camps for women who are just setting their goals too high. They are trying to push themselves to the extremes to see fast results, but in the end they burn out before any real progress can be made. If you want to be successful with your fitness plan, make sure that your goals are realistic. It’s great to give yourself something to reach for and really challenge yourself with, but make sure it is possible to achieve your plan without killing yourself in the process or making sacrifices you aren’t really ready to make.

#2 Sabotage Sin: They get trapped in all-or-nothing thinking.

This is something else that becomes apparent with some people in our weight loss boot camps. They think they have to do the entire workout at top intensity, completing the most intense versions of every movement, or it isn’t worth attending. In their mind they have to go all out and kill themselves or completely stay home. There is no middle ground. There are going to be days when you just don’t want to attend a fitness boot camp for women. Some days you will be dragging your feet as if they are made of lead, and that is okay. What’s important is that you get to your weight loss boot camp regardless. It’s the discipline and commitment of being there at all that counts on those rough days. If you stay home because you can’t give it your all, it will only be harder to drag yourself there the next day. Remember, fitness is not an all-or-nothing plan. It’s a plan that requires just getting the job done whether your heart is in it or not.

#3 Sabotage Sin: They follow a great workout up with horrible foods.

Attending fitness boot camps for women is an awesome thing for your body, but if you are eating a greasy McMuffin on your way to the workout or filling up at the buffet later in the day, you are holding your body back. You are undoing much of the progress that was made toward a healthier body. You are making it more difficult for your body to move through the next boot camp.

It is incredibly difficult to get yourself to workout after a hard day of work or dealing with the children, but what if it is the only realistic time you have to burn some calories and get rid of that extra flab? Personal trainers hear all the excuses and understand all the dilemmas from clients complaining about evening workout schedules and trying to explain away missed sessions.

The difficulties trying to get yourself to actually workout in the evening are completely understandable, but they don’t have to ruin your efforts to lose weight, tone up, or otherwise improve your life and your body. The following are some basic tips to help get your body in motion for that after-work workout!

Make it Routine

If you do the same thing at the same time day after day, it will eventually become routine. You will start to do it without thinking much about it, which means doing it without excuses! If you can determine a specific time that you will workout after work and do it daily for a solid week it will start to feel a bit like second nature. Do it for two weeks straight and you will feel it is routine and the excuses should be out the door.

Join a Personal Training Gym in NYC

Personal training gyms in NYC are different from regular gyms because all members come in to work with personal trainers for scheduled appointments. Since you actually have a personal trainer waiting for you to show up you can’t easily tell yourself that you’ll “just go tomorrow.” You have paid for the sessions. Your personal trainers are waiting for you. There is more incentive to show up! When you join a personal training gym in NYC you are guaranteeing that you will workout after work at least a couple days a week. You will still be able to workout from home on other days, if not having to travel is easier for you.

Make it Fun

Exercise doesn’t have to be boring or difficult. If you find something that you really enjoy doing it will be much easier to make yourself do it. Spend some time trying out different workout tapes or head to the gym and try out all the different equipment. If you can afford to hire a personal trainer for just one session they will be able to introduce you to a variety of different workout options that you might enjoy.Try out some group exercise classes. Go for an outdoor fitness boot camp class in NYC one night and Pilates or yoga the next. You never know what you will find enjoyable until you try it.

Reward Yourself

Set small rewards that can be collected after each full week of exercising every evening consistently. Try to make the rewards fitness related, such as a new pair of cross trainer shoes, workout clothes, or a new fitness DVD.

Out of all these recommendations, joining a personal training gym in NYC so you have access to skilled personal trainers is the best one. Not only does this help get you out the door for your after-work workout, but it ensures that your workouts are going to be effective so you really see results. Seeing those changes in your body will serve as constant motivation to keep you going for those after-work sessions!

It seems like half of NYC is working with Personal Trainers in one way or another these days. Some workout with their favorite Personal Trainers through fitness boot camps in NYC or at their homes with In Home Personal Trainers in NYC, while others are members of Private Personal training gyms in NYC where you have to be connected to at least one trainer just to become a member.

Why is this? What drives so many people to pay Personal Trainers when they could just workout by themselves in an ordinary gym?

#1: You are more likely to workout if someone is waiting at the gym for you.

Most people who workout in ordinary gyms don’t actually workout half the time they say they are going to! They have no one holding them accountable and most people will flake out on themselves when they would never do it to someone else. It’s sad, but it is a fact of human nature.

Think back to the last time you skipped a workout. Yes, you were tired or had a bad day at work or the weather was horrible outside and it was too much of an effort to go tot the gym. That is understandable, but would you have gotten up and done the workout anyway if you knew a personal trainer was waiting for you at the gym?

You are more likely to stand yourself up than you are to stand someone else up, so Personal Trainers are great tools just to get your butt to the gym in the first place.

#2: Working out with someone else is more fun.

Why do you see so many people in gyms working out with their iPods? Workouts just get boring without someone else to talk to and coach you through. Plus, many of them are spending way too much time just walking on a treadmill or circles around a track. If they had Personal Trainers they would be doing more exciting things and would have a companion. The workout wouldn’t be boring, even without their music!

If you can find a Personal Trainer that you really connect with, even the most intense workouts can be tons of fun.

#3: You don’t have to wonder if what you are doing is intense enough for your goals.

Since you don’t have the expertise, knowledge and experience that Personal Trainers have, you are always wondering if your exercise plan is enough. If you aren’t seeing results you wonder what you need to do to change that. If you are seeing some results you wonder what can be done to intensify the results even more.

That is where Personal Trainers come in handy. When you attend a private personal training gym in NYC or hire a Personal Trainer in NYC they know how to get the results. They have the knowledge to answer those questions and make you successful.

#4: You will be pushed much harder than you could ever push yourself.

Let’s just face it. Most of us are wimps when it comes to feeling our pulse throb between our ears and the sweat flooding from our pores. Personal Trainers will always push you harder than you push yourself. That’s why they get the results you can’t get by yourself!

#5: Your results will be downright addicting.

In the end, you will be glad you hired one of our Personal Trainers in NYC because the changes you see in your body will be nothing short of amazing. The results can be addicting, so watch out!
